RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) award a construction contract to Alfaro Communications Construction, Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, in the amount of $3,015,454.67 for the Signalized Intersections Improvement Project, PL013; and (2) authorize the Public Works Director to approve change orders to the contract in an amount not-to-exceed $211,082 to cover contingency costs (7%).


BACKGROUND

Culver City's Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) report was finalized in November 2021. The LRSP analyzed collision data over a five-year period citywide and identified the top high-risk intersections. Nine signalized intersections were identified to seek grant funding for safety improvements.

On March 23, 2022, the City received the Program Supplement Agreement from the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) for the Unsignalized Safety Improvement Project.
