RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Civil Service Commission approve the Promotional recruitment bulletin for Associate Planner.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

In fiscal year 2022/2023, the City Council approved a reorganization of the former Community Development department which resulted in creation of the current Planning and Development Department. The Planning and Development Department (Department) is comprised of three divisions: Advanced Planning, Building Safety, and Current Planning. The Department is responsible for guiding, monitoring, and facilitating land use development within Culver City. The Associate Planner classification is assigned to the Advance Planning Division and Current Planning Division (Division), and the Division maintains and implements the City's General Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and monitors and analyzes regional planning issues to determine their impact to the City. Additionally, Current Planning staff supports the Planning Commission and City Council through the processing of rezoning, subdivisions, site plan reviews, use permits, variances, and other entitlements as part of the Active Projects in Culver City.
