RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution appointing the Chief Transportation Officer, Diana Chang as the City's Director to the California Transit Systems Joint Powers Authority (CalTIP) Board; and to designate Safety & Training Coordinator, Hector Calvinisti and Transit Operations Manager, Nestor Ducreux, as the City's first and second Alternate Directors, respectively.


BACKGROUND

On April 20, 1987, the City Council authorized the City of Culver City to join the California Transit Systems Joint Powers Authority (CalTIP) to obtain liability coverage and risk management services through jointly pooling resources with the other transit agencies that are members of CalTIP. CalTIP has provided competitive and stable rates and needed risk management services to Culver CityBus since that time.

On September 26, 2011, the City Council approved and adopted Resolution No. 2011-R080 accepting changes to the CalTIP Agreement for the purpose of jointly funding tort liabilities and other losses and providing risk management services to reduce such losses.
