RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a notice inviting bids for the Slope Repair Project Behind 9530 Jefferson Boulevard, CIP PP022 (Assessment of Culver City Park Hillside Slope).


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The hillside behind 9530 Jefferson Boulevard is on City Park property and has been experiencing landslides due to past rainfall. The slope is supported by a retaining wall behind 9530 Jefferson Boulevard. Due to the hillside failures, the soil on this slope occasionally overflows the retaining wall during heavy storms. Parks Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCS) personnel clear the soil that overflows the retaining wall after heavy storms.
This project will re-grade the failed portion of the hillside and install a mesh, along with soil nails, to stabilize the slope and prevent it from sliding. Additionally, the construction area will be planted with drought-tolerant California native plants.

Staff expect that construction will begin in early 2026.

The Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 includes $366,268 for this project in CIP PP022 (Assessment of Culver City Park Hillside Slope) in Fund 420F (General Fund Facility Planning Reserve) which can be found in the Capital Improvement...
