Nachbar (08/19/14) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council ratify the filing of an application with the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) FY 2014 Program funds. BACKGROUND: The Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance has determined that Culver City is eligible to receive JAG funds through a statutory formula that is based on the violent crimes in Culver City that are reported to the State of California. Culver City s eligible allocation is $12 951 as determined by this formula. DISCUSSION: The Police Department has determined the funds will be used to purchase 2FA fingerprint scanners for all Police systems which access Department of Justice (DOJ) data repositories. The Police Department is subject to the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Advanced Authentication compliance mandate (Deadline: September 2014).
