Nachbar (08/17/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council award a construction contract to Eagle Pump Services for the Culver City Park Booster Pump Replacement Project P 922. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: There is an existing irrigation booster pump located in Culver CityPark. The booster pump is required due to the elevation differential from the water main in Jefferson Boulevard to the upper reaches of the park where there is a large demand for water to irrigate the four ball fields. The existing Aquavar constant pressure variable flow booster pump system is currently supporting the irrigation system at Culver CityPark. This booster pump system is no longer being manufactured and it is becoming increasingly challenging to find replacement parts. Also the water pressure in Golden State Water s main line in Jefferson Boulevard has dropped in recent years. As a result the existing booster pump cannot provide the necessary pressure to irrigate the entire park sufficiently.
