RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve the upgrade of a vacant Senior Account Clerk position in the Finance Department to Associate Analyst.
BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION
In December 2015, the individual occupying the Senior Account Clerk position in the Purchasing Division of the Finance Department left City service. Currently the Senior Budget Management Analyst in the Finance Department is spending significant time supporting the Purchasing function, including managing the City's P-Card (Credit Card) program, working with departments to write bid and request for proposal documents, and assisting with the contract entry and change order processes. This greatly reduces the time this position can assist with Finance Department-wide initiatives and analysis, Finance Advisory Committee support, etc.
The Chief Financial Officer is recommending upgrading the vacant Senior Account Clerk position to Associate Analyst, which would provide the ability for this position to provide a higher level of support to the Purchasing function and complete many of the tasks currently being performed by the Senior Budget Management Analyst.
