Nachbar (11/10/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council reject all bids for the construction of Sewer Main Lining Rehabilitation Project (Phase II) P 906 & Lining of Abandoned 10 Force Main on Braddock Dr. P 984. BACKGROUND: Trenchless construction technology is a new method to rehabilitate sewer mains with minimum disruption to the public. Most of the sewer mains contained in this project are located along the rear property line easements where they are difficult to access and maintain. These sewer lines were constructed between the 1920 s and the 1940 s and the video tape inspection showed root damage protruding laterals and offset joints. Approximately 7.5 miles (out of the total 90 miles of city sewer mains) are proposed to be rehabilitated as part of this sewer lining project. On May 2 2011 the City Council approved the final plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement for bids.
