RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC): (1) dissolve and create subcommittees to reflect the FY 2024 - 2025 Cultural Affairs work plan which includes dissolution of three (3) Ad Hoc Subcommittees that have completed their specific task, creation of an Ad Hoc 2025 Performing Arts Grant Program Subcommittee; and (2) Assign Commissioners to Ad Hoc and Standing Subcommittees for the fiscal year.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
At its first regular meeting in July of each year, the Cultural Affairs Commission typically reviews its subcommittees considering the City Council adopted budget and work plan for Cultural Affairs for the coming year, and two Commissioners are assigned to two or more of the CAC's subcommittees.
Subcommittee meetings are held on an as-needed basis, with some subcommittees meeting as frequently as every month and others only once or twice over the course of a year; the frequency and agendas of subcommittee meetings are primarily staff driven. The requirements of the Ralph M. Brown Act (Brown Act) include important differences between a "Standing Committee" and an "Ad Hoc Subcommittee."
