RECOMMENDATION
The Subcommittee will receive and discuss a presentation by Support+Feed about their organization and their work in and surrounding Culver City, including nonprofits that they serve and small businesses they purchase from, as well as their free farmers markets, and describing how people and entities can have food be a part of their sustainability goals.
BACKGROUND/DESCRIPTION
Founded in 2020 by Maggie Baird, Support+Feed is working to build a more equitable, plant-based food system that addresses some of the most pressing challenges facing communities today, including food insecurity, public health, economic resilience, and climate. Since launching, Support+Feed has distributed more than 2.2 million meals and pantry items through partnerships with over 200 community organizations and 150 local restaurants, helping deliver nourishing food while supporting local economies. Free farmers markets also expand access to healthy food in underserved communities and help reduce food waste.
