BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: At a previous City Council meeting the City Council provided consensus to consider this item. In preparation for this item staff reviewed City Council Policy Statement 2006 01 Naming of City Facilities (attached hereto). In accordance with City Council Policy 2006 01 the proposed naming would fall under the category of a commemorative naming for which the individual would need to have made extraordinary contributions to the community which have been consistent and continuous over a considerable period of time and be deceased for a period of at least one year prior to the initiation of the naming process.
