Fulwood (03/18/09) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve the plans and specifications and authorize the advertising for construction bids for the Culver City Transfer Station Tipping Floor Repair Project and authorize staff to solicit construction bids. BACKGROUND: The City owns and operates a solid waste transfer station. Solid waste collected by the City s Sanitation Division trucks is transferred to tractor/trailers at the facility for ultimate disposal at the Puente Hills landfill. Roll off service green waste processing and all other Sanitation Division functions are also based at this facility. The transfer station is a two story reinforced concrete structure located adjacent to Ballona Creek at 9255 Jefferson Boulevard. Sanitation Division collection trucks dump their loads on the upper level tipping floor and a large tractor loader pushes the material through an opening in the tipping floor into Sanitation Division transfer trucks parked on the lower level.
