RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee select a member to represent the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration & Juneteenth Advisory Committee to speak in Support of the Budget letter for FY26/27 at a City Council Budget Meeting.
BACKGROUND
At the July 23, 2025, meeting, the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration & Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) agreed to include on its August agenda the selection of a representative to formally speak on behalf and in support of the Advisory Committee's budget letter to the City Council. This action supports transparency, civic engagement, and helps communicate the Committee's funding needs and priorities for future Martin Luther King Jr. Celebrations and Juneteenth Celebrations.
The budget letter outlines the Advisory Committee's funding recommendations and supports requested allocations from the City's general fund to help deliver a meaningful and well-resourced event.
