Nachbar (01/19/12) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution establishing a Citywide Valet Parking Program and related procedures regulations and fees and rescinding Resolution No. 2009 R052. BACKGROUND: On April 21 2008 the City Council authorized the implementation of a pilot Valet Parking Program in Downtown. On June 22 2009 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2009 R052 establishing the permanent Downtown Valet Parking Program (Program). The Program has been a great success. It has encouraged the use of shared parking (the collaboration of privately owned parking lots with the Sponsors and Operators of the valet parking locations). Additionally it has contributed to a decrease in demand on the public parking resources such as the public parking structures and the on street parking spaces by using shared parking.
