RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to include Buckingham Parkway between Green Valley Circle and Hannum Avenue on the list of projects to be funded by the 2017 Road Repair and Rehabilitation Act's Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) for Fiscal Year 2025-2026.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On April 28, 2017, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), also known as the Road Repair and Accountability Act, into law. SB 1 was adopted in response to California's significant funding shortfall for maintaining roads, freeways, and bridges throughout the State.

The California Transportation Commission (CTC) oversees several SB 1-funded programs, including the State's Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA). A portion of funds from SB 1 is deposited annually into the RMRA for the maintenance of local streets and roads. To receive funding from the RMRA, the City must submit a list of projects to be funded with these funds to the CTC. The list of projects must be adopted by resolution of the City Council at a regular public meeting each fiscal year.
