Fulwood (03/20/07) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve budget amendments to allocate Proposition C 20% Local Return Funds ($50 000) and Sewer Enterprise Funds ($270 000) to the Residential Overlay Program P 863. A 4/5th vote is required to approve the budget amendments. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: The City was recently informed by Metro (formerly the Metropolitan Transportation Authority) that portions of Proposition C funds will lapse by June 30 2007 if not spent. The funds can be used for street improvements supporting public transit services and used by scheduled bus service. Braddock Drive from Madison Avenue to Jackson Avenue is a public transit route. The pavement on that section of Braddock Drive has deteriorated and is in poor condition. It is estimated that to grind and overlay that portion of Braddock Drive with new asphalt will cost approximately $ 50 000 at current estimated prices bearing in mind that the market for asphalt continues to be volatile due to erratic crude oil prices.
