C O M M E N D A T I O N
L.A. GOAL
WHEREAS, L.A. GOAL, is a non-profit agency that provides innovative
programs and services to adults with developmental disabilities and their
families; and
WHEREAS, L.A. GOAL’S mission is to provide adults with developmental
disabilities a secure, lifelong base, allowing them to safely and confidently
increase their independence by interacting within L.A. GOAL’s educational,
vocational, and recreational programs.
WHEREAS, for the past 38 years, L.A. GOAL has been a model program
that empowers people with developmental disabilities to demonstrate their
abilities by providing the training and opportunities they request to assist them in
achieving their highest level of independence and employment.
WHEREAS, L.A. GOAL’s Independent Living Skills programs provide a
variety of opportunities to improve self-esteem and self-expression skills through
Counseling programs; life skills training programs; employment training
programs; visual and performing arts; health, fitness, social, and recreational
programs.
WHEREAS, L.A. GOAL provides free consultations to individuals and
groups who provide services for people with developmental disabilities. Free
consultation is provided to members of the entertainment industry to promote a
more accurate portrayal and foster a greater understanding of people with
developmental disabilities.
WHEREAS, the L.A.GOAL Board and staff are fully committed to their
vision of creating a more open society where people with developmental
disabilities can enjoy full inclusion in their communities. We are proud that our
City of Culver City has such an exemplary agency providing services for people
with developmental disabilities and their families.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Culver City hereby
commends L.A.GOAL for their contributions and dedication to people with
developmental disabilities.
