RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration & Juneteenth Celebration Committee (Committee) approve the marketing strategies and timeline for the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Committee is being presented with a recommendation from the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) staff to approve marketing strategies [FA1]and a timeline for the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on January 11, 2025. The proposed marketing strategies and timeline (Attachment 1) has been developed to ensure that promotional efforts align with key planning milestones and community partnership strategies. In the past, PRCS has utilized marketing strategies such as social media, its City Living publication and posters to advertise the event. Attachment 1 includes key dates for branding and development, print material, community engagement/partnerships, digital engagement, and event promotion to maximize visibility and participation in the celebration. Approval of this marketing strategies and timeline is essential to ensure the event is well-publicized and attracts broad community.
