Fulwood (11/05/08) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize advertising for bids for the Fire Station #3 Fiber Optic Installation Project P 912. BACKGROUND: On June 18 2007 the City Council/Redevelopment Agency awarded a contract to FEI Enterprises Inc. for the construction of the new Fire Station #3 located at 6030 Bristol Parkway. Construction on the new fire station began on August 7 2007 and is estimated to be completed by the end of January 2009. In order to connect the new fire station to the City s computer server provide access to the internet have the capability to run critical programs for incident reporting inspection tracking through Permits Plus and comprehensive staff event and resource scheduling a fiber optic connection between City Hall and the new Fire Station is required. DISCUSSION: There is an existing fiber optic data cable from City Hall to a pull box at the intersection of Overland Avenue and Sawtelle Boulevard.
