Nachbar (07/07/15) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council authorize the publication of a Notice Inviting Bids for the replacement and installation of new compressed natural gas (CNG) equipment to enhance existing fueling facilities. BACKGROUND: The City operates one of the largest CNG fleets in the country and has been recognized consistently among the top ranking fleets in the United States. The City s CNG compressors were originally placed in service in 1998 and have been through several major overhauls and repairs. Because of their age and changes in technology the parts needed for continued service and operation are now out of production. DISCUSSION: In the City Council Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2013/2014 the City Council approved the Transportation Department Work Plan item to replace two (2) CNG refueling station compressors which have reached the end of their useful life.
