BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: On February 27 2006 the City Council awarded a construction contract to EAR Engineering Construction & Support Services ( EAR ) for the modification of underground storage tank (UST) components at Fire Station #1 including the following environmental compliance modifications: installation of an Enhanced Vapor Recovery system for the unleaded fuel tank upgrade of audio/visual fill alarm systems replacement of spill containment sumps and reconstruction of the concrete tank pad and lids to avert water seeping from onsite Fire Department operations. Due to the favorable low bid the City Council also authorized staff to negotiate additional work not to exceed a total project budget of $79 916.00. EAR completed the project on 12/28/06.
