RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve the final plans and specifications and authorize the publication of a Notice Inviting Bids for the Fire Station #1 HVAC Replacement Project, PF013.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Fire Station #1, located at 9600 Culver Boulevard, was constructed in 1994. The building has the original HVAC system, which has required increasing maintenance in recent years by the Public Works Department Maintenance Operations Division. The HVAC has recently experienced significant performance issues and has reached the end of its product life.

Scope of work for the project includes:
* Remove seven existing HVAC units on the rooftop and indoors of Fire Station #1 and replace them with six energy-efficient HVAC systems in the main building.
* Adjusting associated ductwork on the 2nd floor.
* Clean all interior mechanical unit condensate pans and piping connections in the main & auxiliary buildings.

RTI Consulting, Inc. provided the mechanical and electrical construction documents and plans for this project through the City Council-approved on-call civil engineering contract.

The engineer's estimate for construction is approximately $450,000. Construction is tentatively planned for Spring/Summer 2025.
