Nachbar (05/19/11) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution initiating proceedings for the levy and collection of annual assessments for the Albright Avenue Streetlight Assessment District and ordering the preparation of the Engineer s Report thereon for Fiscal Year 2011/2012. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: The property owners requested that the City finance the construction of five (5) new streetlights on Albright Avenue south of Washington Place. The City s policy is to require property owners to pay for the installation of new street lights when requested by the property owners on streets that do not currently have street lights. In order to do this the City collects the cost including a fair interest payment through an assessment on the Los Angeles County property tax bills for the benefiting properties.
