RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee approve the PR, Marketing and Entertainment Ad Hoc Subcommittee Entertainment Recommendations.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) is tasked with advising the Parks, Recreation and Community Services staff with the planning of the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration for 2026. On July 23, 2025, the PR, Marketing and Entertainment Ad Hoc Subcommittee was formed.

The PR, Marketing and Entertainment Ad Hoc Subcommittee is recommending the following entertainers (all bios are attached):

* Bloom Arts, along with Culver City Unified Schools District choir members - Attachment 1
* Caleb Crump - Attachment 2
* Roots and Thunder - Attachment 3
* Major - Attachment 4

As of this report, staff is working with various recommendations to confirm availability for the keynote speaker. Staff will be presenting the list of keynote speakers available along with their backgrounds to the Advisory Committee during the meeting.
