RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) (1) approve letters from the DAC to supporters of 2024 Disability Awareness Month; and (2) authorize transmittal of the letters to the intended recipients.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

At the August 14, 2024, regular meeting, the DAC expressed interest in drafting a letter of thanks to the manager of the Culver City Julian Dixon Library for her support of the month-long Disability Awareness Month display at their location, as was done by the committee in 2023. After some discussion, it was decided to expand the issuing of thank you letters to other supporters of Disability Awareness Month, including groups and individuals that assisted with the 2024 Abilities Carnival and Resource Fair. At the October 9, 2024, meeting, the committee decided to designate Members to draft personalized letters outside of meeting time. The committee also agendized review and authorization for transmission of the draft letters at the December 14, 2024, regular meeting.
