RECOMMENDATION

 

Staff recommends the City Council (1) create an Ad Hoc Film and Media Policy City Council Subcommittee; and (2) appoint Mayor Dan O’Brien and Vice Mayor Freddy Puza as Members of the Subcommittee. 

 

 

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

 

On July 14, 2025, Mayor O’Brien requested, and received a majority consensus from the City Council, to agendize a request to create an Ad Hoc Film and Media Policy Subcommittee and appoint himself and Vice Mayor Puza as members.  The objective of the Subcommittee would be to review current challenges facing productions and provide potential recommendations to encourage increased filming opportunities in Culver City.  Local filming/production supports the economy, creation and retention of jobs, small businesses and the entertainment industry and related sectors at large. 

 

 

FISCAL ANALYSIS

 

The is no fiscal impact related to the creation of this ad hoc subcommittee.
