RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS)
Commission schedule the 2013PRCS Commission Park Tour.
BACKGROUND:
Each year, one or more members of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services
Department management staff accompany the PRCS Commission on a tour of
Culver City parks and facilities. The most recent Park Tour was held on Sunday,
October 14, 2012. City Council members, the City Manager and Culver City School
District representativesare usually invited to join the Commission on these tours. On
behalf of the Commission, staff will invite all of these parties again this year. During
a typical Park Tour, staff engages in a dialogue with tour participants, takes them to
sites of recent and upcoming capital improvement projects and provides information
regarding a variety of issuesrelating to Culver City parks and facilities.
DISCUSSION:

the following dates:

Agenda Item Report
Park Tour Itinerary
At the July 2, 2013 PRCS Commission meeting, many different ideas regarding the
Park Tour itinerary were presented. Based on tonight’s discussion, the PRCS
Director will develop a Park Tour Itinerary and distribute it to the Commission before
the Park Tour begins. For reference, last year’s Park Tour was scheduled from 9:00
a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and the following Parks were on the itinerary:
• Tellefson Park
• Lindberg Park
• El Marino Park
• Fox Hills Park
• Blair Hills Park
• Culver City Park
• Syd Kronenthal Park
• Veterans’ Memorial Park
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
It is anticipated that a one-day Park Tour will have a minimal impact on PRCS
Department staffing and budgetary resources.
MOTION:
That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission:
Schedule the 2013PRCS Commission Park Tour.
