RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) 1) receive a presentation of a preliminary wayfinding signage plan that guides pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists to the Exposition Light Rail Station (Station) and 2) appoint a BPAC committee member to participate in a stakeholder group formed to refine the wayfinding signage plan.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On October 26, 2015, the City Council adopted a resolution approving the submission of a grant application to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) to install 20 wayfinding signs that guide pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists to the Exposition Light Rail Station (Station) (the "Project"). The grant was approved by the Metro Board of Directors on March 16, 2016. An agreement was subsequently prepared and executed between the City and Metro on August 4, 2016 for the Project. The total project budget is $46,000 with costs split evenly between Metro and the City.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan adopted in 2010 suggests a need for wayfinding signage along Washington Boulevard and this need was also recommended in the Culver City Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Assessment conducted by consultant Fehr and Peers in 2014.
