Nachbar (09/17/14) Action Item: RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council authorize the publication of a Notice Inviting Bids (NIB) to procure equipment and services for public safety digital mobile audio/visual systems (in car cameras) and mobile data computers. BACKGROUND: Mobile data computers were first introduced to the City in December 2009 in concert with the larger project that included replacing public safety Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management System (RMS) software. As the City approaches the five year mark of public safety in vehicle technology the City seeks to enhance this program by replacing aging mobile data computer technology throughout public safety (Fire Department and Police Department) vehicles as well as integrating in car video technology in Police Department vehicles.
