RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Equity & Human Relations Advisory Committee (EHRAC) (1) discuss public events planned in May and June 2021; (2) discuss creating an ad hoc subcommittee to plan public events for the 2021-2022 fiscal year; and (3) if desired, form said ad hoc subcommittee and appoint members thereto; and (3) provide direction to staff if deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
May and June 2021 Events
The Committee discussed and agreed to conduct two events in what remains of the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
* The May event will be a discussion on the hate report conducted by Los Angeles County and presented by Marshall Wong from the LA County Commission on Human Relations on May 14th via Webex.
* The June event may be an educational teach-in event on June 19, 2021 in observance of Juneteenth. More discussion is necessary to plan this event.
Ad Hoc Subcommittees
The EHRAC Bylaws provides that the Committee "may form Ad Hoc Subcommittees to meet and discuss special activities, events and topics on an as needed basis."
