Fulwood (10/31/07) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council discuss the renaming of the Cathedral and Patio Conference Rooms in City Hall and direct staff as deemed appropriate. BACKGROUND: On December 11 2006 the City Council adopted a City Council Policy related to the naming of City facilities. On October 22 2007 Councilmember Rose requested and received consensus to agendize an item to discuss the naming of the Cathedral and Patio Conference Rooms in City Hall. DISCUSSION: This item presents an opportunity for the City Council to discuss and give direction to staff as to naming the Cathedral and Patio Conference Rooms. The attached policy provides the framework for this discussion to 1) guide staff and the City Council in the naming of City facilities including buildings support facilities park sites and recreation facilities; and 2) ensure that the naming of City facilities is accomplished in accordance with the City s laws rules regulations and procedures. According to the Council policy City Facilities that have been named by a formal action of the City Council shall not be renamed unless supported by a 4/5ths vote of the City Council.
