RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss the proposed City Council Strategic Plan - 2016-2021 ("Strategic Plan"), and (2) adopt the Strategic Plan; and/or (3) provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On August 29, 2016 and October 10, 2016, the City Council conducted the 2016 City Council Strategic Planning Retreat meetings to discuss the City Council's priority areas for 2016-2021. The goals of these meetings were for the City Council Members and City staff to engage in a dialogue to identify: (1) three to five City Priority Areas for 2016-2021 and (2) three to five topics to engage in Community discussion to further understand the issues.
Through these meetings, the City Council refined its discussion topics to the following goals:
1. Increase civic engagement;
2. Address Ballona Creek;
3. Improve transportation and reduce congestion;
4. Address diversity and workforce development;
5. Increase revenue to support economic development; and
6. Have the City become known as a City of Kindness;
