RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council consider the request of the City Council’s
appointees to the City Council/CCUSD Board Liaison Committee (Vice Mayor
Cooper and Council Member Sahli-Wells) to discuss the use of the Mike Balkman
City Council Chambers by the Culver City Unified School District Board of Education
and direct the City Manager as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
The City Council last discussed this subject on January 24, 2011. An excerpt of the
minutes for that meeting are attached for the City Council’s reference.
The CCUSD Board currently meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each
month. For the first meeting of the month, the CCUSD Board meets in their
traditional meeting place at the District’s administrative offices. Pursuant to the City
Council’s direction provided on January 24, 2011, the CCUSD Board meets in the
City Council Chambers on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The City’s Cultural
Affairs Commission currently meets in the City Council Chambers on the second
Tuesday of each month.

There is no fiscal impact associated with discussing this item. Should the City
Council determine to authorize the use of the City Council Chambers by the CCUSD
Board, there is a minimal cost associated with that use that has traditionally been
charged to the CCUSD.
