RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve respective amendments to the existing on-call agreements with Mike Prlich and Sons, Inc., Clarke Contracting Corporation, and Mladen Buntich Construction Company, Inc., for Emergency Sewer Repair Services in an additional aggregate amount not-to-exceed $600,000.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On May 23, 2022, the City Council approved agreements with several on-call sewer pipeline contractors in the aggregate amount of $600,000. Due to costly and unanticipated emergency sewer and other pipeline repair work over the past 16 months, the approved aggregate amount of $600,000 is nearly exhausted and will not be sufficient to meet future emergency costs during the five-year term. Some of the unanticipated repairs were related to the heavy rains of the last year; others were caused by tree root incursion into the City's pipelines due to the prolonged period of drought preceding the rains.
