Fulwood (05/18/06) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council award a construction contract to FS Construction as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder to complete the necessary work for the Curb Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement Project P 428. BACKGROUND: in The repair of curb gutter and sidewalks is part of an on going maintenance program the Public Works Department Maintenance Operations Division (Operations). Curb gutter and sidewalk repair locations are determined by a coordinated effort between Maintenance Operations and the Engineering Division. The list is generated by telephone and written requests from residents and by Public Works staff. Priority is assigned based upon the facility s condition and its proximity to other needed repairs in order to gain benefit from economy of scale. DISCUSSION: On April 27 2006 the Deputy City Clerk publicly opened bids. Four Contractors responded with the following bid amounts: CONTRACTOR BID AMOUNT 1.
