Nachbar (10/08/14) Action Item: RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council adopt a resolution approving the application for grant funds through the Pilot Program for Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Planning under the Federal Transit Administration. BACKGROUND: The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the availability of $19.98 million in funds for Fiscal Years 2013 and 2014 under the Pilot Program for Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Planning. Through this program FTA intends to fund comprehensive planning work that would likely not occur otherwise without Federal support. The FTA is seeking applications for funding that address six focus areas: 1) Enhances economic development ridership and other goals established during the projected development and engineering processes; 2) Facilitates multimodal connectivity and accessibility; 3) Increase access to transit hubs for pedestrian and bicycle traffic; 4) Enables mixed use development; 5) Identifies infrastructure needs associated with the eligibl...
