Nachbar (09/04/13) General Fund: Yes No Action Item: X Attachments: X RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended the City Council consider renaming Bush Way after Albert and Ursula Vera and if desired direct the City Manager as deemed appropriate. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION: At the City Council meeting of January 28 2013 the City Council discussed a proposal to rename Bush Way after Albert and Ursula Vera. At that meeting the City Council directed the City Manager to proceed with this proposal by providing notice of the City Council s intention to formally initiate this renaming and return to the City Council at a future meeting. In preparation for this item staff reviewed City Council Policy Statement 2006 01 Naming of City Facilities (attached hereto). In accordance with City Council Policy 2006 01 the proposed naming would fall under the category of a commemorative naming for which the individual(s) would need to have made extraordinary contributions to the community which have been consistent and continuous over a considerable period of time and be deceased for a period of at least one year prior to the initiation of the naming process.
