RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the City of Culver City and the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County Flood Control District (LACFCD) regarding the administration and cost sharing for implementing the Coordinated Integrated Monitoring Program (CIMP) and Watershed Management Program (WMP) for the Marina Del Rey Watershed.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

On December 28, 2012, the Los Angeles County Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Permit (MS4 Permit) became effective in accordance with the Clean Water Act. The Los Angeles MS4 Permit covers unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, and 84 cities within Los Angeles County, including the City of Culver City. Culver City takes a regional approach regarding compliance, by partnering with other agencies within the watershed to accomplish annual reporting, water quality monitoring, project implementation and other tasks.
