Nachbar (07/02/13) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to submit an application with the US Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance for Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) FY 2013 Program funds. BACKGROUND: The Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance has determined that Culver City is eligible to receive JAG funds through a statutory formula that is based on the violent crimes in Culver City that are reported to the State of California. Culver City s allocation is $12 206 as determined by this formula. DISCUSSION: The Police Department has determined the funds will be used to purchase Apple I Touch devices for patrol officers in the Operations Bureau. Currently the Operations Bureau uses digital cameras to document evidence or conduct crime scene investigations in the field.
