RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Cultural Affairs Commission Public Art Subcommittee receive a report regarding a vinyl art wrap opportunity for an outdoor fitness court at Culver City Park and provide feedback.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

In 2026, the City of Culver City's Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) Department received a grant from the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), a wellness consulting firm on a mission to change health outcomes in the United States. With the grant, PRCS will be purchasing and installing a new fitness court, among other amenities as part of PRCS's larger Improvement Plan, in Culver City Park, a 41+ acre park located in the Jefferson neighborhood. The fitness court-an outdoor gym-allows for an artist to create vinyl art wraps that are installed to all four sides of the structure.
Cultural Affairs Division (CAD) is partnering with PRCS to create this art opportunity for local artists. The CAD's plan includes the following:
* Communicate with PRCS on project-related matters,
* Create and manage the competitive, two-stage process (RFQ & RFP) to select the winning artist or artist team for art vinyl design,
