RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council (1) approve a general services agreement with Discount Installation Services dba Discount Door and Window in an amount not to exceed $93,004 for the Transportation Department Exterior Pedestrian Door Replacement Project, CIP No. (Project); and (2) authorize the Chief Transportation Officer to approve amendments to the agreement in an additional amount not to exceed $18,600 to cover contingency costs.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The exterior pedestrian doors at the Transportation Facility have reached the end of their intended service life, having remained in continuous operation since the facility's inception in 1997. After nearly 30 years of high-volume usage, the structural integrity and mechanical functionality of these original installations have significantly declined. To maintain departmental standards for security, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance, a full replacement of these entry points is now required.
