RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the Mobility, Traffic & Parking Subcommittee receive a presentation on proposed crosswalk modifications at the intersection of Sawtelle Boulevard and Matteson Avenue. The traffic signal modification project at this location includes the removal of the crosswalk at the north leg of the intersection and the installation of a crosswalk at the south leg of the intersection.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Sawtelle/Matteson traffic signal modification project intends to relieve congestion at the freeway ramps, and reduced cut-through traffic in the adjacent residential neighborhood. The signal modification will provide a protected left turn phase for the left turn movement coming off the southbound San Diego Freeway (I-405) off-ramp and to convert the northbound and southbound left turn into protected left turn movements.
