Fulwood (07/23/08) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council award a construction contract to FS Construction to conduct the necessary work for the repair of concrete drainage swales at Culver City Park (P 905). BACKGROUND: The City s Parks Recreation and Community Services Department and Public Works Department staffs have conducted field investigations to review the condition of concrete drainage swales located on the hillside in Culver City Park. These field investigations have revealed the need for five point repairs of portions of drainage swales within the south and west facing slopes of the park. The drainage swales are in need of maintenance due in part to differential settlement of landfill material and water intrusion which resulted in weakening of underlying soils and the creation of voids that impacted the swale. The scope of work included in the contract provides for placement of cement slurry into these voids and removal and replacement of damaged portions of the concrete drainage swales.
