TH
ANNIVERSARY IN CULVER CITY
WHEREAS, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church held its first worship services in 1945 in a Boy Scout hut
in Veteran’s Memorial Park.; and
WHEREAS, their incorporation service was followed by the purchase of land at 4427 Overland Avenue,
and the member-driven construction of a chapel, church offices and choir room; and
WHEREAS, Grace Lutheran Church has housed the Meals on Wheels program for 31 years and has
provided meeting space for Alcoholics Anonymous, AlAnon, Overeaters Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous as
well as Girl Scouts and Daisy Troops; and
WHEREAS, the church participates regularly in Fiesta LaBallona, Ballona Creek Clean-Up and other
community related events;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Culver City hereby
commends the staff of Grace Lutheran Church for 60 years of dedicated service to the Culver City community
and congratulates Grace Lutheran Church on the occasion of its 60th year anniversary.
