RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) (1) consider adopting motions to appoint DAC members as liaisons to various outside associations, and City Commissions, Boards, and Committees (CBC); and (2) consider dissolving an Ad Hoc Subcommittee whose purpose has been fulfilled, if any.


BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Appointing DAC Members as Liaisons to CBCs

Commissions, and their specific powers and duties, are established in Chapter 3.03 of the Culver City Municipal Code. In contrast, committees are created for a specific purpose and their specific powers and duties are established and/or abolished by ordinance, resolution, or other action by City Council by virtue of the City Charter (Article XI, Section 1105). While Commissions always consist of five members, a committee's membership size may vary and is specified in their committee bylaws.

Both Commissions and Committees act as advisors to City Council by providing findings and recommendations on matters pertaining to policies, procedures, rules, and regulations within the subject matter of their CBC. Though these findings and recommen...
