Nachbar (11/05/13) Action Item: City of Culver City California Agenda Item Report RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve an agreement with Waste Management Incorporated to use its Simi Valley Landfill and El Sobrante Landfill to dispose of the City s municipal solid waste. BACKGROUND: The City of Culver City operates an exclusive residential and commercial refuse collection and disposal service as a municipal enterprise. The Refuse and Recycling Division (Sanitation) operates solely on revenues generated from the provision of solid waste collection services to businesses and residences grants and the sale of recyclable material. These revenues cover the costs of refuse collection recycling programs public outreach trash disposal at local landfills as well as other municipal services such as street sweeping and hazardous materials disposal.
