Department Approval: Damian Skinner 6/30/05 City Controller Approval: CAO Approval: RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council accept the work performed by the contractor FS Construction and authorize filing a Notice of Completion for the Curb Gutter and Sidewalk Replacement Project P 428. It is also recommended that the retention funds in the amount of $15 929.52 be released to the contractor after the thirty five day lien period. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: On February 14 2005 the City Council awarded a construction contract to FS Construction for the replacement of uplifted damaged or deteriorated sidewalks drive approaches and curb and gutter along selected streets. Due to the favorable low bid Council also authorized staff to negotiate additional work not exceeding the project budget of $160 000. FS Construction repaired sidewalk curb and gutter and drive approaches in accordance with the original contract. The original contract amount for the project was $111 425.00 and the final construction cost was $159 295.20. There were five (5) change orders issued in the total amount of $47 870.20 for additional curb gutter sidewalk and drive approach repair locations that were added to the project.
