Fulwood (04/08/09) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council award a contract to RMS Life Safety Systems Inc. for the installation of replacement life safety system sensors at the Culver City Transportation Facility. BACKGROUND: The construction of the Culver City Transportation Facility was completed in 1998. At that time a contract was included for the replacement of the sensor mechanisms which detect harmful gases in the shop facility. This includes 13 carbon monoxide sensors and 22 methane sensors. Scheduled replacement of these components was conducted periodically over the past ten years within the term of that previous contract. Additional scheduled replacement requires a new contract in order to replace all sensors in the facility in accordance with the safety regulations of the California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 24 California Building Code and subsystems specified in Part 2 of the California Building Code and Part 4 of the California Mechanical Code.
