Fulwood (03/04/09) RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council approve a professional services agreement with Commercial Protective Services in an amount not to exceed $55 000 for security services during construction of the Fire Station No. 3 project. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: Tragically the construction site for Fire Station No. 3 was the site of a crime which allegedly took place on January 3 2009. The project was officially suspended on January 9 2009. To promptly address the situation and provide necessary protection of City property on January 21 2009 an agreement with Commercial Protective Services was administratively approved for 24 hour unarmed guard service and 24 hours video surveillance with 7 day video recording storage. They have provided excellent service. Construction on the project resumed on February 19 2009. Staff believes it is prudent to keep a security company on site during the regular work week for 16 hours a day with 24 hour video surveillance.
