BACKGROUND: In order to improve the working environment for our bus operators and reduce workplace injuries the Transportation Department has initiated a project to replace older model driver s seats in the transit buses. Transit bus operator seats are specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of transit operations service. The construction and durability of these particular seats must provide operators with a high degree of comfort and the ability to make physical adjustments. On July 12 2005 the Transportation Department released a Request for Proposal for Transit Bus Operator seats. The City s Purchasing Division mailed out copies of the RFP to potential proposers and three (3) RFPs were downloaded from the City s web site.
